Learning How to Play Blackjack
Whenever you enter a casino today, the first thing you’d notice is that the slot machines are always given priority in terms of floor area. The next thing you’d probably notice is that the poker tables are usually the crowded ones because right now, poker is the game to play. But do you know that blackjack tables are said to offer you statistically the best chances of winning? You didn’t know that, did you?
Well, now you do so if you don’t know how to play blackjack yet, we’ll gladly teach you in this article.
Are you familiar with how Lucky 9, another gambling game, is played? The objective in that game is to hit a 9 or anything closer. If you’re familiar with that game then you’ll have an easier time on learning how to play blackjack because it has a similar objective. If 9 is the number to aim for in Lucky 9 – hence the name – in blackjack, you’d have to add 12 more to that, which basically means that the lucky number in blackjack is 21.
The Playing Rules of Blackjack
Now that we’re clear with our objectives, this is how the game of blackjack is played.
In other gambling games, the dealer and other players go head to head against each other. In blackjack, however, it’s all of you players against the dealer.
Each player will be first given two cards. Face cards, meaning the King, Queen and Jack, are counted as 10. The ace, however, can be counted as either one or eleven – it depends on your cards and strategy which value you’d attach to your aces. The rest of the cards retain their original values, meaning a Two would count as 2 still. In the game of blackjack, arrangement and sets of cards – like how a trio and a pair combined would make a full house – do not matter. Suits don’t matter as well. All you have to do is reach 21.
The best hand in blackjack would of course be a face card or ten (10) and an Ace (11) for a total of twenty-one.
You are given the chance to draw additional cards trying to make 21. Be careful however if you draw too many cards because you might go over 21. Unlike in Lucky 9 wherein anything beyond 9 may still be considered just as long as you subtract 10 from the total value, the moment the total value of your cards go beyond 21 in blackjack you lose.
